Our program is fully accredited by the ACGME and AOA. The Guthrie Family Medicine Residency participates in both the AOA match through the National Matching Service and the ACGME match through the NRMP.

We use the ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) program and accept only electronic applications. Please contact your Dean's office on how to apply.

Selection Criteria Include the Following:

While reviewing applications from graduates of US/DO Medical Schools we look for:

  • Successful completion of steps I & II of the USMLE/COMLEX exams including the Clinical Skills exam
  • Graduation from medical school within the last 5 years
  • Three letters of recommendation

While reviewing applications from graduates of international medical schools we look for:

  • Significant U.S. clinical experience, particularly in Family Medicine is preferred.
  • Successful completion on USMLE Steps 1 and 2 including the Clinical Skills exam
  • Graduation from medical school within the last 5 years
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Valid ECFMG certification
  • We only consider candidates from the California approved medical school list
