Family Medicine Rotation at Guthrie
The Family Medicine clerkship and elective opportunity immerses medical students in the specialty, putting them in the shoes of a family physician. Students see patients with residents and faculty members in the clinic.
In addition, medical students will round in the hospital with the family medicine residents and faculty. Medical students will also attend noon didactic lectures and the weekly afternoon educational offerings, varying between chronic disease management, individual reflection and wellness, and clinical procedure skills such as suturing or skin biopsies.
Osteopathic medical students will also attend afternoon skills sessions once a week and see OMT patients with members of the DO faculty. A dedicated OMT elective rotation is also available, with DO faculty members on staff.
All Geisinger medical student rotations at Guthrie are coordinated through Breana Losey, Manager, Regional Education at Breana.Losey@mblayst.com. Medical students from all other institutions are coordinated through Ann Andrada, Student Coordinator.
